Consistency Builds Clarity

Building brand recognition takes time, but through the use of four basic design principles, you can help to build a brand identity that will resonate with all customers for years to come. Never underestimate the value of great messaging coupled with fabulous design. Here are four basic design principles to keep top of mind, when you are building out all your asset elements.

Contrast

Contrast is the difference between colors. It helps show definition and leads the eye around a piece of artwork or design. Different types of contrast include light vs. darkness, color, foreground vs. background, and lastly size vs. shape.

Alignment

Alignment is the way objects or text line up along a path. Usually, the text will be left, right or center aligned. Alignment helps to create structure, and organization and improve readability.

Brand Strides - Repetition

Repetition

Repeating lines, shapes, tones, colors, textures, or forms in a design communicates cohesiveness. Repetition is an effective way to create unity and balance in a design. The recurrence of one or more elements within a visual format, creating harmony is known as the "Rhythm".

Brand Strides - Proximity

Proximity

Proximity communicates the relationship between elements within a design. By grouping text and objects together, you are telling your audience they are connected. Proximity helps to create a visual hierarchy and helps to organize information.
